Pendulation
If you've done this before
For when staying with a feeling all at once is too much — and leaving it entirely doesn't help either.
- Find where the activation lives. Heat, tightness, buzzing, a pit.
- Stay with it for two or three breaths. Not forever. Just contact.
- Then find a place in the body that feels more okay — feet, hands, a patch of warmth, the sense of the room.
- Rest there for a few breaths. Let the nervous system register ease.
- Briefly return to the activation, then back to the easier place. End in the easier place.
Why it works: The nervous system learns it can move between activation and ease, instead of only flooding or shutting down. You are training a swing, not forcing calm.
